Q: Does anyone know where I can find a list of average auto insurance rates by vehicle?
We have a 16 yr old daughter whos looking for her first car. We wanted to find a list (if one exists) of average insurance rates to see which cars cost the least to insure. This way she'll know which cars she can afford. Thank You.
A: Welcome to the club! We have tried a few and changed to one that saved us over $1500.00 per year. We tried all the others and got so many quotas it made our head spin. So for the last 5 years we have been with AARP Hartford Ins. We have two boys on the policy, one 21 and the other is 17 with three cars. The type of car has very little to do with insurance rates. It is mostly figured on the people driving. A good example of this is to indicate that if you rent a vehicle and you contact your insurance company they will tell you not to buy the extra insurance because you "YOU" are insured and therefore what ever your policy is will cover you in the rental. Our policy for 3 cars and 4 drivers; Mon, dad, boy 21 and boy 17 with AARP in the State of Texas is just under $1500.00 a year. Progressive wanted over $1500.00 a year to one boy. With AARP you will have to become a member and the fee there is $12.00 -- well spent money..
Q: What decreases vehicle insurance rates?
A: Good driving record, good credit history, age, driving record, coverage options, location, car alarms, defensive driving and COMPARISON SHOPPING and a whole lot more you can find at http://www.nationwidebillrelief.com/blog/2007/06/08/policy-savers/
I also posted a resource below that can provide quotes from multiple companies online.
Q: What Vehicle has the highest insurance rates?
I friend of mine wants to purchase a Mustang and she was told that the rates in Georgia would be high....Does the color of the vehicle make a difference also?....I have heard the color Red would bring you into a high pay rage with insurance....not too sure so I'm asking....thanks
A: Color has no impact. The symbol (basically, value of car) has a big impact on the comp & collision. Theft rates, statistically, on different types of cars, also has an impact on comp & collision. Safety equipment (ABS brakes, passive alarm, VIN etching ...) will lower the liability portion. If an insurance company does statistics on cars and shows that red cars are more likely to drive dangerously (probably specific to certain models), it is within their rights to raise the premium accordingly.
Everything is statistics; each insurance company usues a different calculation. All liability-only cars will be the same at some companies and different at others.
Q: Does your vehicle colour affect your insurance rates?
A friend of mine was told this by someone a little while ago and she recently passed it onto me. She said he also mentioned that black and red vehicles have the highest rates. It seems a little far fetched to me but I'm wondering, does anyone know if this is actually true?
A: I actually looked around at a bunch of different companies, and the answer is no. I have owned black, white, silver, red and yellow cars; the color of the car never came into it.
Main factors are:
Year
Car type (Sedan, Coupe, Pick-Up, Convertible, etc.)
Miles driven per day/week/year
Who drives it.
Always ask your Local Agent of the Insurance company; they will usually get the same commission no matter what you pay, so they will try to look out for any discounts for you.

Q: What is a good vehicle with a low insurance rate?
I am looking for a vehicle for a 20 year old female with a clean record. I would like something that has four doors and does not cost any more than $30,000. Also, I would like something that is not a grandma car.

Q: Will my insurance go up if my vehicle would be out of town?
Ok so i'm 18 and will be going to college 186 miles from my home in pittsburgh. I'm currently listed as a primary driver on my parents insurance. Will my insurance rates go up just because the vehicle would no longer be located at home?
I don't believe it should because if i'm listed as a primary driver what difference does it make where the vehicle is located? Does anybody know if it would go up?
A: It should not change. Full time college students are recognized as still living at home for insurance purposes but the insurance company should be notified of your school address
Q: Is the insurance rate on a red vehicle sometimes high?
I think my cousin knows a little about cars and insurance. I overheard her saying she was going to buy a car for her daughter, but was skeptical if she could get a reasonable insurance rate because it was red. ??????
A: jauan k, For auto insurance the easiest method to get a low quote is do a policy comparison. Be sure to choose the same coverage levels, you can get an fast quote to compare against others. Use the same city/state, car make/model, mileage and driving history to make sure you get an apples to apples comparison. To get easy auto insurance quotes, go to http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Auto-Insurance.html and you can compare the major auto insurance companies.
Q: How does Progressive compare your insurance rates with top companies?
How is that possible? I've applied for Progressive quotes before (and wasn't impressed at all), but how are they able to do that?
Insurance companies all have complex formulas that are used to calculate rates using several factors, including driving history, location, credit, household drivers, vehicles, etc.
Unless they have robots online that steal competitors' bandwidth and automatically fill out the forms, it doesn't seem possible. If that was the case, you would think other companies would block Progressive from abusing their servers.
Any ideas?
A: Since the rate books become a matter of public record once they are filed in the state, they do like their competition does and gets a copy.
All they are doing is using the tables they provide to guess what your coverage might be. They may use a worst case scenario or a best case.
The formula's are not really as complex as you might think.
Q: What vehicles have the lowest insurance rates for teenage drivers.?
A: Ford Rangers.
Q: Vehicles with lowest insurance rates?
I live in Ontario Canada. I'm needing a car for work now. I have three tickets about two years ago; two running red light tickets and one for driving ten over the limit. I'm looking for a car that is good on gas and easier on the wallet for insurance. Thanks
A: Typically 4 doors, 4 cylinders cars or family minivans are cheaper on insurance. I would recommend running multiple insurance quotes on several cars you keep in mind here:
http://www.wisepages.com/money/insurance
It is no cost to you, and you’ll know which one is cheaper in 15 minutes.
Q: what is libality rate on vehicle insurance?
A: Liability is required in most states. Easiest way to explain it: If you get in an accident with another car and its your fault, liability covers the damage to their car but not yours. If it was their fault, their liability would cover the costs to repair your car. If your inquiring about the cost, It differs depending on your age, record, and vehicle. I am 18, I drive a 2003 Jeep Liberty and I have 4 tickets(2 of which were criminal). I pay $260 a month. Hopefully, that will give you an idea.
Q: Will my insurance rate go up alot if I finance a second vehicle?
I'm sure someone here has been through this. I have full coverage on my financed vehicle and i want to buy another vehicle of roughly the same value. Personally I don't think my rate should skyrocket, i mean i can only drive one at a time right? thanks in advance
A: ~~It will not necessarily go up. Sometimes you get discounts for multiple vehicles. If your driving record is good, and the care is not a high theft auto, it should nt be a huge increase. Then by driving two cars, you may qualify for low mileage rates on one or both, which will further decrease the premium. Just call your agent and they can tell you in a few minutes.~~
Q: How much will my insurance raise after DUI and totaled vehicle?
I totaled my 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Friday night and got a DUI. I have been with Nationwide for a number of years, and had a pretty exemplerary driving record. I was paying about 100 dollars a month full coverage as a 26 year old male on my Jeep. Does anyone have an educated guess at what my insurance rates will do now? I'm trying to decide, when I get my license back and buy a new car, if I should be looking at a sports car with full coverage, or if insurance prices alone are going to make me want to get something cheap with liability coverage. By the way, I live in West Virginia.
A: You will want to get a sensible car with liability only until it drops off. One of my insureds has a 1984 nissan 350z and he is paying about 600.00/ month (cali) and he just has 3 tickets on his record. In most states, a DUI counts as 4 tickets and then a suspended license can be another 4 and an accident can be 2. Some insurance companies will charge you for the DUI and not the accident, others will charge you for both.
Also, at 26, you are usually eligible for a good driver discount. That will go away too.
