Q: My daughter was in a multi vehicle car accident and i cant seem to find an estimate for car insurance?
It was a 2001 hyundai elantra.
My insurance was 9 star.
My daughter just turned 21 and wasen't given permission to drive the car.
A: Your post is unclear on a couple of things...so I am assuming by your post that a) the car was yours and b)your daughter was responsible for the accident. The fact that she didn't have permission means nothing; unless you want to charge your daughter with stealing your car, which I doubt, then that won't cut any ice with an insurer.
There are insurance companies that will cover high-risk situations like yours, but I can tell you that they will want you to sign off on a document where you categorically state that your daughter will never drive the car, period, and if she does, they can cancel the policy or refuse any and all claims. And be prepared to pay higher rates, at least for a while, until you have been claim free for a given period of time (I would think a year or so minimum). The insurer will explain their policies on this.
Try searching the internet...there are high risk companies like Safe Auto, etc. who might give you some minimal coverage if nothing else...and there are sites where you can get multiple quotes from various companies.
Good Luck. Hope this helped a little.
Q: Can someone reccomend an car insurance to cover my vehicle while visiting Mexico?
I have Progressive , but they will only cover 20 miles in from the border. We are traveling all the way into Michoacan, so that won't help. I just want to know if someone can refer me to a legitimate car insurance for taking your vehicle into Mexico. Please give me any you know of either by site, or phone number, or even by name and I will look up the rest. Thanks
A: That is the maximum Mexico endorsement I have ever seen & it is very minimal coverage at that. It is not the same coverage as you have when you are in the US anyway so I would not depend very much on it even if you were less than 20 miles from the border. What you can do is purchase Mexican insurance right before you cross the border. This is the best thing to do & is the only place I know of that will provide you the coverage you should have while travelling in Mexico.
I've had good info about it here:

Hope that helps.
Q: Can you get car insurance for a vehicle you build from the ground up?
I am considering building a car from the ground up as a project. I have noticed that there are similar cars that are collectors, but none with the creature comforts todays cars have, so I was interested in attempting to meld the old and the new. Is it possible to get auto insurance so that you can drive such a car on the road?
I plan on a custom frame based on 1930s era vehicles, but designed with modern technologies in mind. I realize that there will be alot of fabrication work to put this together. I, of course, do intend to have a more modern car before I start this project so that I have a way to get around.
A: Are you starting out with a frame from a previous car or a full custom frame?
With a previously registered frame, you can register it as whatever kind of vehicle the frame was from, however, you might want to look at supplemental insurance to cover the custom work.
A full custom frame will require inspection before it can be registered and if the frame isn't from a registered manufacturer (came with an Manufacturers Statement of Origin) with a 17-digit VIN, the state will issue you a VIN so you can register the vehicle.
As for insurance, you're gonna have to call around. I went through this with a custom chopper I built. Only place I could find anything besides liability insurance was Foremost Insurance.
Q: Can you take a rental car when you do not have any personal vehicle or auto insurance?
I do not have any car insurance right now. I am planning to get a car rental for a month. Do I need to get some insurance for this? What happens if cop pulls me up will rental agreement be sufficient?
A: You'll have to purchase the rental company's insurance. You can't even get insurance outside of that because you don't own a car to insure. Insurance through the rental car company is sufficient for police.
Q: Does someone know where I can find a list of average car insurance rates by vehicle?
We wanted to find a list (if one exists) of average insurance rates to see which cars cost the least to insure. This way she'll know which cars she can afford. Thank You.
A: There might be a list but I am not sure. It's pretty hard to give an accurate dollar amount without knowing a bit more about you and your daughter. A major factor is where you live. Insurance rates can vary drastically from state to state or even from zip code to zip code.
Here is some more detailed info about it -

Q: Should I add my live-in girlfirend to my car insurance policy as a driver of my vehicle?
I live with my girlfriend and we both obviously have our own cars and car insurance on our own. Should I add her as a driver of my vehicle just in case something happens when she is driving? I asked my company and they asked if she drove it more than 12 times a year. In the instance of an accident, there is obviously no way they would know if she drove it once or 100 times that year - so are we adequately covered if I do not add her?
A: In most cases, as long as she has her own vehicle with her own insurance, your insurance carrier will add her as a non-rated driver. This acknowledges that they are aware that she is in the household but they know she has her own car so she will primarily be operating her own vehicle. I would recommend that you have your agent or your carrier at least aware of this in writing that she is now residing with you and they will be able to assist you in determining if she needs to be added as a driver, a non-rated driver or an excluded driver (Which would only be in the case that she will NEVER be operating your vehicle!!!). This is just to make certain that there is adequate coverage for her and yourself in the event that there is a loss. No one should hide things from their insurance company as they are there to protect a person-in the event that an insurance company finds out that you intentionally withheld information regarding pertinent information, they could potentially rescind your policy, in turn, void out the policy alltogether and deny coverage for any subsequent accidents. Just a quick phone call is all it should take-Good luck!!!
Q: Can you be on your parents car insurance and have your own insurance on another vehicle?
My boyfriend is on his parent's car insurance because there is a $150 dollar difference a month between being on theirs and having his own, with that being said he is going to buy a motorcycle but his parents don't want to add that to their policy. Can he keep his car on his parent's insurance and then get motorcycle insurance on his own?
A: Yes of course he can get his own insurance.
This is the best value I know

good luck.
Q: What are the conditions regarding using another person's vehicle if your on comprehensive car insurance?
some people say if your on comp you can legally drive another persons vehicle (even if your not named as the registered keeper or on the insurance) with the owners permission etc but sometimes i hear different stories, so confused, need help.
A: autoinsurance.undonet.com - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.
Q: How do you try to buy or bid on totaled vehicles by car insurance companies?
I’m interested in trying to find a vehicle like mine, but wrecked with a good engine and transmission and any other parts I can salvage to keep mine alive for a few more years . I would like to know in general how to search and bid on wrecked vehicles that have been totaled by insurance companies and are now up for bid. This would be kind of like what a wrecking yard must do to purchase vehicles for parts resale, or a used car dealer that would in turn repair the vehicle and resell with salvage title. Any leads on where to start would be appreciated
A: Ask your insurance agent. He should be able to tell you what they do with the totaled cars. A lot of the time they have salvage yards take them or auction them off at a local auction. Good luck and hope you find one.
Q: How long do motor vehicle points affect your car insurance?
NJ - Progressive Insurance
A: it depends on the state you live in as well as what company u are insured with. we need more info.
Q: I would like to add another vehicle to my car insurance on line?
A: You may be able to do this, depending on your current insurer's web presence.
some have account access capabilities for current customers.
If your insurer has this....it could be pretty easy.
Q: Does UK car insurance cover the driver or the vehicle?
If I drive my partners car am I covered? Similarly, if I go and buy a 2nd hand car to 'do up' am I insured to drive it back to my home? My insurance is due for renewal in a few weeks time and I've seen quotes that list "driving other cars" as one of the features of their insurance.
A: Allways the driver
never the vehicle
a policy will cover
policy holder only
policy holder & spouse
policy holder +any driver
policy holder+ named driver(s)
Your own policy may let you drive
vehicles not registered to you
(with the vehicle owners permission)
but this is getting rarer these days
but even if your policy is F/Comp
you cover is limited
to T/P only
the safest thing to do would be to contact
you insurance company/broker
for clarification
good luck
best wishes
Q: How much would car insurance be if I went under my parents car insurance with my own vehicle?
I am 16, and have a 1993 ford ranger
A: The car has to be titled in their name first of all for it to work. Sense you have to be listed as a primary driver on one of the cars put you as the primary on the ranger. It depends on if they get any discounts, you have any tickets. You half to get a quote from your ins company, no one can tell you what your ins will be
Q: Car insurance- if your vehicle is stolen do your rates skyrocket?
my car was jacked at a gas station, are my rates gonna go way up?
A: i had my suburban stolen, it was found by police 2 weeks later pretty damaged, it was repaired and returned, now my rates went up a little but the worst was my deductible for my comprehensive insurance for theft, fire and vandalism went from $300.00 to $2500.00, talk about being double victimized, I'm in B.C. Canada.
Q: what isa my option if a car insurance declare my vehicle is salvagABLE?
A: YOU CAN BUY IT BACK FROM THE INSURANCE CO. AND HAVE IT REPAIRED.
