Q: Vehicle Insurance?
I have purchased an ambassador car of 1951 model. It is registered in my name at DTO.Now I want to get it insured. But the insurance companies denied to insure my vehicle. They said that they don't insure such a old car.
Please advise
A: The insurance companies cannot insure a car that they feel has no value. Because if you have an accident, they would send you the value of the car which they feel is $0.
If the car is a classic, you may be able to insure it, but you need to find an insurance Agent who handles that type Insurance.
Good Luck
Q: What is the difference between Commercial Vehicle Insurance and Private Insurance?
What is the difference between the two when it comes to hitting someone's car and totalling it? Is it true that companies with commercial insurance are most likely to "replace" a totalled car versus private insurance to keep from being sued. Also what is the practicality with settlements after the car has been totalled? Anyone ever get in an accident involving a company owned vehicle with commercial insurance?
A: Whether a PAP (personal auto) or BAP (commercial auto), the same rules & laws applies when resolving auto claims. The only difference is the amount of liability carried by each...BAP's are generally much higher than PAP. So to answer your question, NO a commercial carrier will not "replace" your totaled out vehicle. Both carriers have a duty to settle claims fairly & do their best to keep their insured out of court.
As for the settlement of a total loss....the law states if it's cheaper to total the car than repair it because the repairs exceed the value of the car, then the car must be totaled. Financially it doesn't make sense, whether it's your neighbor paying or some company with deeper pockets than your neighbor. You do have the option to "retain salvage," where you keep the car & you receive the value of your vehicle less the salvage amount. At that point you can pay to have it repaired if you want but the insurance won't give you additional money during the repair process to pay it b/c you have been compensated...you do not get to benefit from both.
My professional experience with commercial carriers has been they penny pinch right down to the last penny, and rarely ever do they directly pay a claim without it going thru subrogation first. On the rare chance they have stepped up and taken the repairs on first hand they have been slow to respond, slow to issue payments.
If your car is a total loss, have BOTH carriers provide you with a t/l offer and go with who ever gives you the higher amount.
Q: How can I get commercial vehicle insurance?
i need to get commercial vehicle insurance for my air conditioning service fan, but i want a really good price and need to get numerous quotes, how can I go about this? is there any websites that can give you quotes?
thanks.
A: Call a local independent agent. Independent agencies will have multiple markets to shop you to. You can also try direct write companies like Allstate, Farmers etc. Who does your personal insurance right now? Give them a call first and see what they might have available.
Q: Why I need a vehicle insurance when police check for vehicle documents ?
Why I need a vehicle insurance when police check for vehicle documents, I know that Insured is to claim ur money in case of any damage to ur vehicle but, I think its my whish that whether I want to get my vehicle insurance claim or not, than why Indian police claim fine if I don’t have Insurance paper after all its my whish whether I want or don’t want my vehicle to be insured.
Or, is it a document needed for police verification if yes than why?
A: If you own you vehicle free and clear of the bank..you have to have liability insurance to cover damage you might do to someone else.
It is generally cheap.
If you owe money to the bank for your car and the bank has your title, then the bank will require full insurance to protect their collateral ..your car.
The reason why is simple..before those laws were in effect, folks without insurance would ram someones car..hurting the driver and destroying their transportation then show up in court saying.
I am broke so too bad about your medical bills and your car...sue me all you want, I have not money to collect.
That is why most states (if not all) require at least liability insurance...to protect the other drivers from irresponsible drivers.
Q: how can i get my vehicle insurance with out meeting with an accident?
i there any way that i can get my vehicle insurance with out meeting with an accident.
i have insured my vehicle.how can i get money for my vehicle with out meeting with an accident.
A: Most people who get vehicle insurance don't "meet with an accident". Otherwise it would cost a lot more.
Unless you mean, you want to get vehicle insurance to COVER an accident you've already had. It's too late for that.
Or, maybe you mean, you want to buy it, without meeting an agent. So buy it over the internet, at www.progressive.com.
Q: What does an insurance vehicle inspection entail?
I'm in a state that does not require vehicle inspections. But when looking for new insurance, one company requires that I have a vehicle inspection done at one of their authorized centers. What does this inspection entail? What are they looking for?
I have 2 exterior modifications, one that is commonly mistaken as illegal (taillight covers) and one that is technically illegal but never enforced (window tint). Is this cause for concern with the inspection?
A: CARCO. When you switch or newly insure a vehicle that is not brand new, they (the insurance company) must take photos of the vehicle. This protects the insurer from you should you try to commit insurance fraud. Example: If they did not take the photos, you could very easily insure a 2000 Honda Civic with collision coverage, a few days later, you could call in a claim and say somebody blasted your car while you were in the parking lot. However, that damage could have already been present. It's just the way insurance companies protect themselves.
Q: Why do i need a vehicle specific insurance to renew my tax disc?
I have a comprehensive insurance on a vehicle and have just bought a second vehicle which I would be insured for third party anyway as part of the comprehensive policy on my first vehicle. But DVLA (UK) insists on a vehicle specific insurance policy. Is this legally correct? As fas as DVLA are concerned I am driving my second vehicle with an adequate 3rd party cover so why should they insist on a vehicle specific policy. What is my legal standing if I contest the clause put forth by DVLA?
A: I don't think you should pay it!!
Q: What is the solution to our wrecked vehicle and insurance not paying?
Have you heard of newspaper carriers having to carry commercial or extra insurance on their car?
Well we hadn't, my son drives a 60 mile route throwing 100 to 150 plus rack papers every day and the day he drove the good car (2004 Blazer that we owe $10,000 on) fell asleep and wrecked on a gravel road (well the ditch actually) and the vehicle has around $9,000 worth of damage. Before the adjuster came to look, they denied our claim. I know stupidity isn't a defense but neither the newspaper nor the local ins. co. told us that we needed extra coverage. How can a rinky dink paper rt. support commercial ins. on a couple of vehicles? We have been almost afraid to even drive our liability vehicles on it now. Progressive may be worse or pickier than other insurance companies? - I just don't know what to do, the banker says sue. Or we could get a loan to fix the vehicle & owe $19,000 on an $11,000 vehicle or just tow it ito our yard & let it set.
They didn't have a written application 6 years ago and at that time no one in our family was doing a paper route. Since that time we have just added and deleted vehicles and kids to our policy. And no I never read the full policy that comes in the mail.
A: I can't see needing a full commercial policy, but there is probably a designation that covers newspapers, pizza, chinese food, and other part-time delivery occupations. Newspaper (pizza, food, etc) delivery persons in Manitoba register and insure passenger vehicles as "common carrier local", which is about 10% higher premiums than regular all-purpose. Good luck.
Q: Do I need to provide driver's license # and a copy of vehicle insurance upon offer of a job position?
First thing first, I'm from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I was recently offered a job and I needed to provide few things in its employment sheet.
1. SIN(no problem with this one)
2. A void cheque (no problem again)
3. A copy of vehicle insurance and driver's licence (???????)
What's with #3?... So far no other employers that I know of asked those two things.
Sorry, I should've mentioned, It's an office job that do not require driving.
Apparently, I didn't need to provide those info since I don't work as a driver as you all said. Thanks everyone.
A: If you need to drive and use your own car to do the job... yes.
Q: Motor vehicle insurance for teenager with permit?
My son is signed up to take driver's education next year. He will receive his permit after taking the course. However, he has no desire to drive and does not want to get his driver's license after he takes the course (whether he will still think this way after taking the course is yet to be seen).
My question is do I still have to carry motor vehicle insurance on him if he just has a permit and not a license?
We are in Illinois.
Thank You
A: No. With the permit he can't drive alone, and will be covered by the person with him and the insurance on the vehicle. He will not need to be added to your policy until and unless he gets his license and can drive alone.
Q: What is the fine for no proof of vehicle insurance in Minnesota? What can I do?
I borrowed a car and got pulled over for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. I called the owner and he added the insurance that same day. I took the papers to DMV and they said they would not accept it since it was dated the same day. I got a hearing time a couple of months from now. Is this a felony for me? What might the fine be? I'm not sure on anything.
Thanks for the SPAM Arthur. You were useless and probably still are.
A: It's not a felony, but since you were the driver, you are responsible for this, even though it's your friend's car. I think your friend should pay any fine you may have to pay, since technically he put you in this mess.
Q: What is the cheapest motor vehicle insurance company in NY right now?
I wanted to know if anyone knew of any good insurance companies with low rates. I'm kinda sick of the one I have now Geico. Service is not great, guess they spend too much money on commercials and none on customer service. Any info would be great! Thanks.
A: Based on my experience as a Broker.............I get most of my cheapest rates from AIG. Lots of our clients are pretty satisfied with them.
Forget all the nonsense about your driving record, age, all that stuff. To get cheap and affordable insurance, you need to shop around...just don't jump in and settle for one guy. check with a local brokrage in you neighborhood and let them quote you with different companies...You can also use online resources to shop around for car insurance.
GET QUOTES FROM DIFFERENT COMPANIES.............AND MAY THE CHEAPEST QUOTE WIN!
Q: If I cancel my vehicle insurance policy, when am I likely to get my money back?
In the terms and conditions on my insurance company's website it states that refund payment will be paid into my bank account on return of the insurance certficate- when they recieve this, will my money likely go back into my bank account this same day? Or is it likely to take up to 7 working days etc. ?
A: You will be lucky to get it in 7 working days. 30 would be more realistic
Q: Can they bill my vehicle insurance to me if I open a new policy today?
I was recently abandoned by my boyfriend (he's out of town for a month) and my car is not legal. I want to open a new insurance policy but do not have the cash to make the initial payment. Can they bill it to me?
A: They can bill you, but it won't necessarily be due immediately. It will usually be due in about a month or two.
Q: HELP! What are the consequences of driving without vehicle insurance in CA?
My girlfriend was driving without car insurance without my knowledge. She got into an extremely small fender bender with very MINIMAL damage. The other person called the police and he gave her a ticket for a court date. We know that she needs car insurance. What is likely to happen now? Is there anything we can do???Please help!
A: More then just a suspension is possible. No insurance on a car is a misdemeanor in almost every state. I believe CA is one of them. If it is then she will get finger printed and fined. She theoretically could serve time or community sevice. More then a fine is rare since they don't want to fill jails with people for no insurance but depending on the accident and priors it could get serious. The best thing you can do is write an apology letter to the other driver if you have his information and can mail it. Also get insurance asap. This will do two things. 1. help insure that the other driver doesn't decide to sue. 2. it will show the judge that you are remorseful and have been quick to fix your error. You can also talk to most lawyers on the phone for free and ask for some advice.
