Q: Camper Van Insurance?
I have longed to try camper vaning, so I have just bought a camper van but I have a lot to learn. So I am hoping some body wil advise me, First of all with the Insurance I presume it is best to get fully Comp because the interior in some cases is worth more than the van, and is it best to insure it all year round even when you are not useing it like winter time. Or can you get alternative Insurence. The next thing is do you take down all the curtains and soft furnshing, Then is it advisable to cover the van in winter proveding you can get inside it to keep the batteries charged up.
A: In Ireland Campers are definable by law as recreational vehicles and have a very low road-tax. Mine is totally and legally insured for €350 euros a year which is maybe £200?
Most Camper owners drive their vehicles through the year, many as their main vehicle. The heat generated by regular use keeps the interior fresh batteries charged and the whole vehicle in good order.
If you treat a Camper like a caravan it will either break you financially or kill you literally.
Q: UK Camper Van insurance inc. business usage!!!?
Anyone know of where I can get quotes from companies that will insure a camper van that would include reasonable business usage (30-50%).
The only company I have found that will requires 5years no claims! I only have just over 2years!!!
Any reccomendations? Insurance is due to run out end of June, luckily after we get back from glastonbury.
It's a proper campervan conversion, on a VW T4 2.5TDi base

Q: How much will it cost an 18 year old boy to get insured on a cheap camper van in the USA in 2009?
Me and my friends are hoping to go to travel america for our gap year in an old camper van and were just wondering if anyone has any idea how much insurance will cost? We will be 18/19 years old and will probably set of in either 2009 or 2010.
A: For car insurance the easiest way to get a free quote is do a policy comparison. Be sure to choose the same coverage levels, you can get an accurate quote to compare against others. Use the same zip code, auto make/model, mileage and driving history to ensure you get accurate comparison. To get easy auto insurance quotes, go to http://www.simpleautoquotes.com/Auto-Insurance.html and you can compare all the major auto insurance companies.
Q: can anyone help me ,which insurance can i use for my lt25 transporter camper van.which one is best.cheers?
A: I joined the caravan club (£32 for the year) and got a huge discount through their own insurance cover. Before that I used AA.com - which was the previous best even after searching round for ages.
I also used a limited policy because we never do more than 3000 miles per year
Q: travelling from cairns to sydney in 1 month hire a camper van?
hi
i am backpacking around the world and will be goingto australia (cairns) in july, and travellijng to sydney. me and my gf have 1 month to do it. should we hire a camper van? or would it be cheaper to buy one and sell on in sydney? anyone got any reputable places to hire/buy from in cairns? how do i go about insurance? thanks
A: Brilliant!! We did the same route in January but we only had 3 weeks to do it. We ended up with numerous hire cars and taking internal flights as the distance is so vast. We stopped in loads of fantastic places and so loads of fantastic sights. I am glad we hired instead of using the buses as we chose where we wanted to go and stop. We enquired about hiring a van but it didn't work out to our advantage as of the one way charge. As for buying one, 4 weeks is not along time to travel from Cairns to Sydney let alone find, buy and sell a camper van. Cairns has wicked Camper's on the main road and there are other van hire places as well, make sure you shop around.
Have a fantastic holiday, i am now going green with envy, and if you need any info let me know and I'll try my best to help!

Q: Is it legal to live in a car?
I was just thinking, is there any law about being allowed to sleep in a car such as where you are parked, insurance etc? I'm not talking about a camper van, just a traditional car. Would you have to pay council tax or anything?
A: i dont think there is anything illegal about it. the most the police can do is ask you to go somewhere else. i have slept in my car in the mall parking lot several times, and in a church parking lot. i was never bothered.
Q: An insurance claim question.?
In January this year, through no fault of my own, or anyone elses, my elevating roof blew off my camper van in Morocco. I was insured for the year TPF&T but had a Fully Comp Green Card (with protected NCD) for the period of the trip. I did take photos at the scene, and I have since renewed insurance with another insurer (in September). The estimate for repairs from the original conversion company is nearly £5000 so a claim looks likely.
My questions are: Can I still claim for the roof repair after this length of time, I appreciate I may have to pay an an excess. Also, if I claim now, should I notify my current insurer as technically it was not my fault. I don't want to have higher premiums when the incident wasn't my, or anyone elses, fault.
Any info or suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thank you.
A: CHECK YOUR POLICY DOCUMENT - that will detail how long after an incident you can submit a claim.
Unfortunately, the claim in question will be termed a 'fault' claim - you won't have a choice about that.
A fault claim is one which your insurance provider has not retrieve all costs of the claim. A no-fault claim means that you insurance company has retrieved all costs from the third parties insurance provider. As there is no third party here, it will have to go down as a fault claim - something to consider before you claim.
If you do have to claim, when it comes to renewal or switching insurance provider, be sure to get on the phone to explain your claim situation. They'll be forgiving given the circumstance and you've done the right things to take pictures at the scene etc.
Q: Renting someones Van?
My buddy and I are going on a long distance trip this summer. I really want to rent a camper van for the occasion, but we dont have the money to rent one from an actual dealer. I was thinking of seeing if anyone isnt using theres and doesnt mind the extra miles and making them an offer.
Is this possible? We would have to cross the Canada/ U.S Border and the ownership would be under someone elses name, as well as insurance. I'm insured with MY car. I have no idea how it works and if we'd get flack for it, like if a cop pulled us over.
A: Once someone rents their vehicle to someone else, their insurance will no longer be valid. It is an exclusion in every personal auto policy I have ever seen. So, you will be taking your chances & the owner will be taking their chances if you do this. There will be no liability & no collision coverage on the camper van. You may possibly have coverage on your policy, but maybe not. You would have to check with your company for that. Still, if you have coverage with your company, that does not protect the liability of the owner. They could get sued in an at fault accident & your coverage would not cover them & their coverage would not cover them.
Q: Do you take responsibility for yourself?
It seems today that many people sue and get away with things so easily. Two stories which come to mind are a guy who hired a camper van in the uk, whilst driving along the highway, decided to put it on cruise control, and go and make himself a cup of tea. Of course the van crashed, he survived and sued the hire company for not explaining that cruise control did not mean the vehical would drive by itself.... he won the case!!! Another...a guy insured his expensive box of cigars for theft and fire damage. He smoked the lot of them and claimed insurance from from the broker, but in this case they got their own back by charging him with arson....what is the world coming to?
A: I often wonder about the same thing. We have become such a litigious society, where so many people seem to have their eye on the prize - ready to blame others for their own stupidity and poor judgement, and at the same time, make a quick buck for themselves. But take heart! There are just as many people who, like you and me, take responsibility for their own actions and believe the best way to get that dollar is to earn it. I'm raising my son with the same ethics. Hopefully one day the pendulum will swing back the other way and people won't be entitled to tie up our legal systems with such foolishness!!
Q: HOw much does it cost to insure a second vehicle?
I pay $125 a month for my car.
WOuld like to get one of those vans you camp in and insure it for the summer. About what pertenage would be added to my current insurance, approimxently?
just want rough estimates for people who have insured more then one vehicle before?
A: Generally the seocnd car will cost about 25 to 35 percent less than the first vehical. Costs can vary by several factors. How many drivers are there in the house. If there are more than one another driver will be named as the primary driver. If they have a poor driving record, well you know how that goes. Age and condition of the vehical can also be a factor. Enjoy the summer.
Q: Freedom!!!!?
i am sick to death of bills for this and tax for that and working for years for very little gain, everything i do it seems costs me money..i love the outdoors and am wondering if i could survive outside being totally free maybe living in a tent moving around the country (england).i would have enough money from the sale of my house to feed me for the rest of my life . the life i lead right now is just work , work ,work and after work im just too exhausted to do the things i enjoy...i dream all day of being free of everything, waking up by the side of a river,or watching the stary sky at night,or walking in the mountains.... i aint a criminal/junkie/wierdo im just an avarage 35 yr old male who wants freedom!!...is this possible nowadays to live like this? i say to live in a tent because if a camper van then i would need insurance and therefore an addresss....
does anyone else think like me or is my mind just screwed up from the daily grind of working in some crappy job for years?
A: YOu can have anything you want. Make a plan, do some research and go for it.
After my divorce, I had no job and no idea what I wanted tod o with my life. Someone reccomended this book on getting what you really want and it changed my life. It taught me how to set up goals and brainstorm. I wrote a "dream day" for myself and a few years later, I experienced many features of that dream day. I also made a goal of getting a house for myself.
You can drop out of society and live in a tent, I would take some time off and figure out what that would REALLY be like. You might just want to downsize and live in a lower cost place, do a more enjoyable job. Just ask some questions of yourself and your friends and family. If you've tried it, love it and explored all your options..... GO FOR IT.
Q: buying a vechile in spain?
spending next summer in europe, but mostly spain. i am a eu citizen. what i want to know is about buying a camper van or any vechile there.can i get insurance easy there. do i have to have an address and so on. are they hidden cost etc.
A: you should check this with the spanish embassy, as far as I know, you will need a NIE or NIF Number, and they can tell u , how to get this ( with an adress in spain ? ).
And for the canary islands, they have more restrictions, so I would recommend to buy a vehicle on the peninsula.
Good luck
