A: It depends on your age, gender, location, and insurance history. If you have insurance for your vehicles get a quote for the motor home through the same agency. The premium for a motor home is actually fairly cheap if you've been continuously insured with no lapses, have a clean driving record and have other policies in force with the same insurance company. Can't give you a figure without more information, sorry

A: Fairly expensive, and yes, you can pay for 6 months then cancel, or better yet, get a storage clause set up, so that there is some protection while it sits.

Wat is the average cost of RV insurance and the average motor RV mpg in gas or diesel. You can provide a website as long s it doesn't require me to put in phone numbers, emails or social security.
A: there are many prices for rv insurance...i own a 2005 42 ft beaver.... diesel with 3 slides....i pay 5,500 a year for full coverage.....but considering what repair costs are..... that's a bargain...when i was in texas last year the wind blew my electric awning off the coach and that alone costs 10,000 dollars to replace...my coach gets 6 to 8 mpg at 75 mph, and 8 to 9 mpg at 68 mph...we had a gas coach that averaged about7 or 8 mpg at 65, but gas coaches are lacking the torque that a diesel has.....diesels are much better overall but diesel fuel is expensive.. so its a trade off..if you are a part timer...most full timers that we know have diesel platforms

Thanks to all. So, as it turns out, my own current insurance company (for my suv), Progressive, quote RVs right on their website. It will cost less to insure a '94 RV than my '99 Expedition, about $1200-$1400/year for very reasonable coverage. That's for 30-150 days of usage throughout the year.

A: If depends on the company - if they state replacement value is where you get a new one when something happens to the old one, then that's better.

A: The 16 1/5 " tires are $75 + per tire .The insurance will run about $350 a year , but if you only use it in the summer , you can cancel it for the rest of the year to save money .

What is typical coverage amounts for a used Class A RV valued at $20,000? ie., Full-coverage? Collision, Comprehensive, Liability?
A: Well, there isn't a typical. If there's a loan on it, you'll need the collision & comprehensive. If it's registered, you'll need the liability.
Some people just park these on a lot in a campground, and don't insure them at all.
Q: We bought an RV this past year, it got wrecked shortly after. Can we claim it as a loss?
Okay we bought an RV, due to a manufacturer problem it wrecked while taking vacation. We had already made 5 payments on it at the time. The insurance company paid it off but our question is can claim it at a loss?

The insurance company paid off the balance but we did not get reimbursed for the first 5 payments. We only had it 5 months when a manufacturer error caused it to crash. Luckily we did not hurt.
What is AGI?
A: Only uninsured casualty losses can be claimed. Since the insurance company paid the claim only your deductible would be eligible. Due to the way that casualty loss deductions are calculated it's highly unlikely you'd have anything to claim.
If the amount of your deductible, less $100, less 10% of your AGI is still a positive number, THAT is what you can deduct.
Q: Do Insurance companies have satellites w/ Tornado Control to steer them towards RV and Trailor parks?
A: No my wife is an adjuster and she would never invite six months of claims settlements everytime one hits.

I believe the RV rental insurance does not cover it. Has anyone dealt with this problem before. Any idea how much it can cost?
A: For your sake, I hope it does cover it. Insurance companies have a habit of high rates and little help with coverage. They may say that it is your fault for not knowing the bridge height and RV height. This will not be a cheap fix, depending on how much of the roof they need to replace.
