Q: motorcycle insurance ...will your rates drop or rise if you change to a larger cc motorcycle?
lets say that you have a 250cc motorcycle for few years and the 250cc bike has a low rate on insurance ....later when you switch to a 600cc with the same insurance company ....will your rate be a little higher or your rate starts all over again like new motorcycles?
A: it will go up they go off type of bike then size since a 600 is alot faster than a 250 your rates go up since at the faster speed you are more likely to wreck and hurt someone or something
Q: What is the approximate range of insurance rates on motorcycles?
There have been a lot of similar questions to this one, but I am interested in buying a motorcycle, however from what i've heard the insurance for motorcycles is expensive. Can somebody please just tell me an approximate range of the insurance rates on a motorcycles without refering me to a website to get a quote from. Just any kind of number range would be helpful.
Additional Info:
I live in Vegas, I am a 17 year old male, and I have no idea what my credit is (don't even think I have one yet) if that matters.
Thank you in advance.
A: first credit has nothing to do with it-- the cheapest insurance for a bike is progressive my car insurance agent told me to go to them because they were higher as for a rate qoute you will have to go to the website because it is based on state laws and what is going on in your city age and type of bike ---I am way older than you- live in Louisiana and have been riding since way before you were born and a new HD big twin is about 1400.00 per year if you were to ride the same sled you are looking at 2-2200.00 add more for a pocket rocket and just a note put full coverage on it and keep it up because you wreak it will save you from some hassles GL
Q: Does having a motorcycle license effect your car insurance rates?
I've been looking at taking the course, wondering if theres any other implications I havent considered.
Anyone have some experience with this?
Assume I'll have my motorcycle endorsement on my license, but not own a motorcycle.
I live in RI, by the way.
A: Hasn't affected our policy rates, my husband and I both got our motorcycle licenses 3 years ago. A bike is a lot different in the way it handles, and in the situations you can find yourself in with traffic. You can't relax your attention at all. Good luck, have fun, and be careful.
Q: Does a motorcycle accident affect my driving record or car insurance rates?
Haven't had a car accident in over 10 years, but I did have a spill on my bike ruled my fault recently. Will this affect my car insurance at all? It hasn't yet, but I'm about to switch insurance companies and get a new car. I also no longer have a motorcycle.
Oh, I should add that this happened longer ago than I thought. Back in January. My car insurance has NOT gone up. I'm just worried that shopping for NEW insurance they'll see it and it will affect things.
A: There are tons of sites where you can get a free insurance quote. http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Auto-Insurance.html It only takes less than 10 minutes to do.
Q: Who has the best rates and coverage for motorcycle insurance?
A: It depends on the state you live in, and many other factors. You are going to need to shop around and see what works with your specific personal information.
Insurance companies all use their own calculation methods to determine the rates that they charge. Some companies even use your personal credit score.
In South Carolina and several other states I have lived in, I have gotten the best rates from Progressive. Dairyland is also a good deal in some areas.

Q: Motorcycle Insurance?
I'm 19 yrs. old, and I'm going to be getting a 2008 Harley XL Sportser 883L, I'm going to be getting my license very soon, and I was wondering about insurance rates, anyone have an idea what my rate might be?
A: Beware that your motorcycle's insurance might not cover medical. Whereas it is cheaper to have motorcycle insurance you will want to carry some form of medical coverage. Try geico.com and other insurance sites to get rates for motorcycle insurance.
Q: Average rate for motorcycle insurance?
I am looking to buy my first motorcycle but before I do I need to figure out how much insurance will cost but to be honest I don't know much about motorcycle insurance. I was hoping if someone can tell me what the best deals will be. The bike will be a Suzuki SV650 if that helps and I am 22 year old college student. I know that it will be higher if I haven't payed the bike completely off yet and I am planning on taking a safety course so I think that will lower it, still... can anyone help me figure this out?
A: call progressive with the vin# they will give you a quote over the phone
Q: How could I lower my motorcycle insurance?
I looked over some of the things that insurance companies look for in giving deductibles and so far i came up with things like:
1. alarms, security devices, etc.
2. lower amount cost of accident coverage
3. rider training courses
im 24, and i heard insurance rates go down after you turn 25 but i'm not sure if this applies to motorcycles also. i don't make too much at my job (min. wage) so i need the lowest rate i can get. what else can i do to bring it down???
A: get another type of bike , like cars, the type of bike also raises insurance, croitch rocket vs cruiser.
get a old, old used bike, cost less to replace them.
look at other ins companys, I dont want to tell you (like advertise) however their are 2 very large ins companys that have given me and others insurance for less then 1/4 of what i paid at a company i had for 15 years, with no accidents or tickets...shop around !
Q: What kind of insurance rates should i expect?
I am planning to get a bike next spring but am going to save up over winter for it. I am looking for a sport bike but nothing to crazy. (GSXR) (Ninja) (R6). This is going to be my first bike but i am going to take a 25 hr class that teaches you how to ride and everything. I'm 19 and live in NY. No accidents and have already taken defensive driving. I pay about 2 grand a year for car insurance. How much should i expect to pay for motorcycle insurance? Also wouldn't mind any opinions on this.
A: You don't have to guess. I would just go to Progressive.com like the other poster said. I never understood the formulas well enough to predict what any bike would cost to insure. Just a few years ago, I couldn't afford to insure a Hayabusa so I went with another bike. Now they only wan't $400.00 per year? What changed in the last 2 years, I don't know. I guess I didn't get a ticket and I got a little older, but the drop was HUGE. I only pay $160 per year for full coverage on my Buell right now. Even that surprised me because it was a huge drop from last year too.
Good luck! It's expensive to be a young rider, but in NY I wouldn't want to just run liability.
Q: Where to get a motorcycle to practice for the DMV test?
Hey guys,
I'm from California. I want to get my motorcycle license. The problem is, I don't have a motorcycle to practice with. Where can I get my hands on a motorcycle to practice for the DMV test?
Besides:
-Knowing a friend who owns a motorcycle
-Purchasing one
Thank you!
Oh, and does anybody from California know what's the motorcycle insurance rate for an 18 year old (perfect driving record with two years experience)?
A: ok here is the deal if you take the motorcycle riders saftey course in cali you dont have to take the riding test for dmv your insurance all depends on what type of bike you have
Q: What is a good insurance company for my motorcycle in Boston?
I have a motorcycle that I have to register in Boston.. problem is that I need to get it insured first. I know that theres a fixed insurance rate in Massachusetts so many insurance companies don't do business in the state... does anyone know a decent company around the area?
I also wanted to know how much I would end up paying for the minimal insurance package... a few people have mentioned it coming up to around $200 a year, does that sound about right?
A: The Premier Ins Co. insures motorcycles in MA. I know, I have them for my bikes. Your premium depends on your riding experience and the bike itself. The more time you have been riding the less the premium. As well as if it's a new bike or old. You need to contact a local insurance agent to get that info.

Q: Insurance question about accident with parked motorcycle?
A minivan rental car backed into my motorcycle today and caused a whole bunch of damage.
Is it possible my insurance rates will go up even if I'm not at fault? Because the bike was parked when this happened (no one driving) do I need to tell insurance companies about it when shopping for a new policy?
also, who is responsible in this case: the rental car agency or the drivers personal insurance?
A: If your bike was parked when it was hit then there is no reason for your rates to increase. Insurance companies increase rates for auto accidents that you are at fault for only. They would not "punish you" for doing nothing wrong.
Secondly, accidents with rental cars can be tricky. I would definetly file a claim with both the rental agency as well as the person's own personal auto insurance. Each policy may have conditions or clauses as to whether or not the accident would be covered.
And if it gets to be too much of a mess, make the claim with your own company to get your bike repaired. Your company will then in turn collect the money back from the responsible party.
Hope this helps!
