Q: What do you think about Progressive Direct car insurance?
I am purchasing a new car and for the first time car insurance. I've been shopping around online and Progressive Direct has the best rates for me. I also looked at getting Progressive through an insurance group in my area, which would cost $30 more per month for the same amount of coverage. Would it be worth the extra $30 per month to get the insurance through an insurance agency in my area? Have you had any good or bad experiences with Progressive Direct car insurance?

A: I work for a law firm and deal with insurance companies constantly. Progressive is one of the best at handling claims, god forbid something did happen to you. As far as the difference in price, that $30 is only to pay that agent. If the coverage is the same, you're getting the same. If you want to email me with the details of your policy, please include you state, the coverage and the cost and i'll tell you if you're in good shape. also feel free to let me know about any tickets you've had in the past 3 years or if your record is clean.

Q: Irish Hibernian Direct car insurance policy?
Is it possible to change over our Irish Hibernian Direct car insurance policy to another car on a Saturday or do they only work monday to friday? If so what number do i ring?

A: Nope...Phone lines are open apparently only mon-sat.

Q: can you change your quinn direct car insurance from provisional to full online?
because whenever i phone them i cant understand what theyre saying because theyre irish accent is so thick, lol. and does anyone know how much itll be? my prov license years no claims is on the 21st of november, so would i have to switch it then, or before then? thanks.

A: For car insurance the quickest method to get a low quote is do a car policy comparison. Be sure to choose the same coverage amounts, you can get an quick quote to compare against others. Use the same coverage area, auto make and model, mileage and driving history to ensure you get an apples to apples comparison. To get easy auto quotes, go to http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Auto-Insurance.html and you can compare the major auto insurance companies.

Q: Will my car insurance direct debit payments stop after claiming for a total write off?
My car was set fire to earlier this month and I have put in a claim on my insurance (Swiftcover.com) which is being dealt with at the moment, what I would like to know is if my payment (due out the bank tomorrow) will be taken or will the policy of been stopped since the claim? Any ideas?

A: You probably have a contract for the full amount to be paid in instalments, this will mean you still pay. Ask your insurance company.

Q: has anyone else has problems with quinn direct car insurance?
on the contract it stated a fixed monthly amount to be paid now they have doubled that amount. has anyone else has problems with them? if so how was it delt with

A: No, I have never had any problem with them payment wise, they can't double a fixed monthly repayment without telling you. I'd ring them up and ask whats going on. I currently have insurance with them but come November I'll be looking elsewhere, because I remember my old car broke down in April in the middle of rush hour traffic. I rang them and asked if they could help me get towed and they said it wasn't covered under my current insurance, I asked if they could bill me for it, as I have no idea about tow companies, its not like I carry the golden pages around in my car, and I was told NO!! I couldn't believe their attitude. So like I said, come November I'm going elsewhere.

Q: Anyone here a named driver with Quinn Direct car insurance?
I am as its my first year of driving but next year I want to take out a policy of my own and do not know if I will get a years no claims as I have been a named driver not the main driver. Any help appreciated. x

A: if you are the named driver you will not be able to take any ncd anywhere else. but you can disclose that you have been driving on a policy. experience may give you discount but you can only earn your own ncd if you are the policy holder. direct line will do ncd for named drivers but you can only take that one year to direct line no one else will accept it

Q: Car insurance broker or direct to insurance company?
I'm about to get a car, and i'm thinking about car insurance. The thing is, I don't know whether should i go to an insurance broker, or just shop around doing all these web quotes and find the cheapest out there and call them directly. Should i just do this or should i contact an insurance broker? What are the pros and cons of dealing w/ insurance broker? thanks

A: With all due respect to Bundysmom (who is normally dead on with claim/accident answers) I believe you are better off going through a broker. If you deal direct with a company or one of their "captive agents" (an agent who only reps 1 insurance company) you end up with no comparison shopping at all. I can't agree with that on any level. Auto insurance is a product like anything else and most people try to get the best value for everything they purchase and insurance should be the same way. A broker or independent agent will be able to give you quotes from many different companies showing the difference in prices. Sure some brokers are idiots and crooks but so are captive agents. The best advice I can give you is to go to an agent that is recommended by a relative or friend. My agent is the daughter of the agent my father used, so I had a great recommendation about the agent and I would never consider buying direct off the internet. I get good service and advice and she does a great job of checking with me to see if I NEED additional coverages. A captive agent can do that for you also but without the ability to provide comparison prices. Try to avoid buying direct online without an agent unless you are knowledgeable about insurance coverages. Last week there was a person on this site who bought a policy online but didn't do it correctly and had an accident and found out the hard way that they did not purchase collision coverage so now they have car payments on what has become a giant paperweight. Be careful and good luck.

Q: Can you get car insurance without having a direct debit card or credit card?
Im thinking of getting my first car this weekend but dont have a bank account to do the insurance, is there anyway of having car insurance and not pay by card?

A: Either you get one offline and pay cash but if you want the saving and choice that comes from getting one online you can get a prepaid card off the shops or even online. This one http://prepaidvisacard.esuperfind.com/?id=333 they'll charge no fees when charging it via Direct Debit and it is a full Visa, you buy anywhere and there's no extra fees.

Q: Belair Direct Car Insurance?
I found them on a search for car insurance and wanted to know if they are reliable before sending in my application. thanks

A: http://autoinsurance.undonet.com - try this company. I have their car insurance and its much better.

Q: TSC Direct Car Insurance?
Does anyone have any experience with this insurance? I have seen lots of ads for it on the subway. Got a quote today from the website and it is waaaayyy less than what my boyfriend is paying with Geico. Good reviews? Bad reviews?

A: TSC>Direct was incorporated as Tri-State Consumer Insurance in 1982. Our goal then, as it is today, was to offer the lowest rates in auto insurance to safe drivers in the New York City metropolitan area. To file a claim you do it on line or an 800 number, but no serious complaints seen.

Q: Have you had any dealings with Quin-Direct Car insurance? What's your experiece of them?

A: No.. it's not that good

Q: Bell Direct Car Insurance...?
...anyone else had bad experience from them at all?? In January I had a car accident (which wasn't my fault) and had to lay out £750 excess to get my car fixed. It wasn’t until April that I received a letter from them saying I will have to share responsibility for the accident, but they bill not accept any liability without advising me first. I have tried countless times to call the claims dept (which is 5p a minute) to chase them up but can never get through. Oh and surprise surprise, I have called their sales dept someone picks up straight away!! I sent an email today to a generic email address at Bell Direct basically asking them to hurry up and make a decision because I feel it that it is very unfair that I have such a sum of money tied up, and if not I shall be pursuing this case further at the small claims court. Has anyone ever done this before?? Thanks Alex

A: They sound like a rather crooked company to me. One thing you can do is to file a claim on your own insurance (assuming you have full coverage) and let your insurance company go after Bell Direct. Your deductible will be tied up until the issue is resolved, but should be refunded to you. Good luck!

Q: Direct line car insurance... cancelled policy?
Hi I have recently cancelled my car insurance with Direct Line. I was advised that I have to send my certificate of motor insurance back to them, I have had loads of letters asking for this.... but no information of where to send it? There was meant to be a prepaid envelope. Does anyone know the address?

A: Phone them and ask them for the address and to enclose an envelope this time!!

Q: Has anyone used Belair Direct Car Insurance?
I was thinking of switching insurance company and heard that Belair Direct has really great rates. However, I don't know anyone who has used this company and wondered if I could get some feedback from anyone here? I tried searching for reviews on Google but didn't really get more than two and that's really not enough to satisfy me. Thanks for any help or advice. I am only looking for information you may have or know about Belair Direct, as I have already done an extensive research and have called numerous ins. companies. But thanks for your suggestions, anyways. :)

A: I don't know where you live but you should check with your state's insurance department to see if who you choose to go with are licensed to do business. These can provide many quotes in a few minutes: http://www.quick-car-insurance-comparison.simplyinsurancequotes.com/insurancelanding.php http://insurance.moneysavecenter.com/insurance-quotes.html
