Q: What affects your car insurance rate?
More specifically - does the number of years having your license have anything to do with your insurance rate? I got my license a couple of months ago and realized car insurance for a 21 year old in New York is WAAY too expensive for my blood. I was hoping it would go down next year? With me being older and having the license longer?

A: Yes, the more years you go accidents free, the cheaper your insurance will become. It also pay to constantly keep an eye on the market for prices so you know you aren't overpaying

Q: If you buy a car that's been in an accident will this affect your insurance rate? If so, why?
I want to purchase this car. I think it's a great price, but the dealer told me it's been in an accident and that insurance paid for the damages. Since it's on record and if I were to buy it would my car insurance rate be affected?? this is what the dealer told me about the accident and i quote him "The report reads primary impact point of right door. Not branded or salavaged though. It was fixed through the insurance co so it sounds worse than it is."

A: The fact that a car has been in a prior wreck has no bearing on you paying higher insurance premiums. That is basically saying that you would have to pay a higher health insurance premium than the other employees at your work because you broke your arm in the past and they haven't. Anyway the more important issue is to check to see what kind of accident it was in, what part of the car was affected. Just because the car is a good price doesn't mean it is a good deal. The car could cost you a lot more in the long run to fix reapairs, alignments, prematurely worn out parts associated from the accident. Look in to it a little more than insurance premiums. You may find that has acrued extensive damage that increases the risk for future problems. Hope this helps, and to reiterate no you insurance will not be more on a previously wrecked vehicle compared to a non wrecked. If someone tells you otherwise you need to contact you insurance company they will confirm what I told you. Thanks

Q: Will my car insurance rate go up if I fix my own car?
I caused an accident; hit them from behind. My full coverage insurance is paying for the person I hit and told me to go get estimates for my car too. I know I will have to pay my deductible for my repairs, but will it affect my insurance rates in the future if I repair my car via my insurance? Or should I just get it fixed with my own money?

A: It depends from your coverage. You can easily compare how your quotes will change in internet, for example here: http://autoinsurance.noneto.com

Q: Is getting into an accident with a more expensive car worse than with a cheaper car? (Insurance rate)?
Is getting into an accident with a more expensive car (Mercedes Benz or Ferrari) worse than getting into an accident with a cheaper car (Honda civic or toyota corolla) in terms of your insurance rate increasing? (given that you are at fault)

A: it depends what car is safer for the people inside the car. chances are the civic will crumble more than a 'stiffer' benz meaning that more damage is done to the civic and more people have medical bills. insurance agents look at the whole picture if a 16 year old does a total of 20k in damage (property damage and medical bills) and a 40 year old does 80k in damage chances are the 16 year olds rates will increase more, they have not 'proven' them selfs as drivers yet and now they look like a higher risk driving for one year and have already had an accidents vs driving for 20 years and has only had 1 accident in 7 years.

Q: Will my car insurance rate go up more if we don't settle and seek more?
I was in a hit and run car accident. They never caught the guy who hit me. So my insurance has to pay up. My boyfriend has been hurting since, I want him to get better and my insurance is trying to get him to settle but the doctor thinks he may need more. They already raised the rate since the accident and I'm wondering if it will go up even more if we seek more?

A: There are lots of websites where you can get a free insurance quote. http://www.simpleautoquotes.com/Auto-Insurance.html It only takes a few minutes to do.

Q: How much will the car insurance rate increase?
Company: Mercury Current Rate: $450-ish/month Accident: Backing up into another car; indentation (about 2 feet wide) on other car, no injuries, other car still functions normally. Also, I got my license in July and I am under 18. Thanks in advance.

A: If you just go your licence not that long ago, you might want to start getting quotes from other insurance companies...because I bet your current insuance company is going to drop you.

Q: Is there a way I can lower my car insurance rate with Progressive?
I'm 21 years old, and have been driving for about 3 years now, and I am wondering if there's a way for Progressive to lower my insurance rate. How do I about doing this with them? What do I say? Thank you!

A: Don't mess with your liability limits, but consider increasing your deductibles if you can absorb the loss if you are involved in an accident or have a comp loss. Do you qualify for any discounts such as, anti-theft devices, short mileage etc.

Q: At what age does your car insurance rate go down?
I am 22, I own a new truck, and my insurance is really expensive. what age does the rate go down? I am waiting for the next school semester to start so I can get my good student discount.. thanks.

A: Rates will usually decrease at age 25, unless you have some violations or accidents against your driving record. One reason your rate is high could be because of the type of policy you have, and the company you have it with. Example: Instead of a Preferred or Standard policy, you may be on a Non-standard policy, which is High Risk. Other factors causing your rate to be high could be your garaging location, driving record, type of vehicle (rating symbol), and the coverages and deductibles you chose. Contact a local Nationwide agency for a quote.

Q: Does car insurance rate depend on a car's make and model?
I'm trying to decide whether to buy a 1999 toyota camry or a 2003 honda accord and i'd like to know if it makes a difference on the rate depending on year. I also recently got into a car accident that was my fault which i know will obviously increase my rate.

A: it also depends on if you are Asian or not

Q: Why is our car insurance rate based on our credit score?
It doesn't seem fair to pay higher insurance because our credit is bad! What do you think?

A: Actuarial studies show that how a person manages his or her financial affairs, which is what an insurance score indicates, is a good predictor of insurance claims. Insurance scores are used to help insurers differentiate between lower and higher insurance risks and thus charge a premium equal to the risk they are assuming. Statistically, people who have a poor insurance score are more likely to file a claim. The goal of every insurance company is to correlate rates for insurance policies as closely as possible with the actual cost of claims.

Q: When will my car insurance rate increase?
So I got a car accident yesterday and the car insurance I bought is for 6 months which will expire on august, will it increase after august or before that?

A: It will increase when it's time to renew your policy in August.

Q: What is the average car insurance rate for a 16 year old female in Arizona with standard coverage?
what would be the approximate monthly charge? I would be driving a 1999 Camry XLE and I have over a 3.0 GPA

A: I could speculate from what I've seen... but I don't think that would give you a good answer. I live in Southern California, fairly closed to Arizona, but the rates for a 16 year old here will be completely different than in Arizona (probably more expensive here, California sucks) All different types of age groups change drastically in every city, area, etc. There is so much information insurance companies use; you're driving record, age, type of vehicle, accident rate of the area, etc etc (every insurance company calculates it differently too) that for you to get a safe quote will require you contacting the company... I know this doesn't answer your question and you probably already had an idea about that, but you should really take it into consideration if you want tangible evidence to support your case in getting a vehicle. To point you in the right direction... http://www.progressive.com/ If you can fill out all of the information here, you will be able to get a ball park figure for your auto quote with progressive insurance, as well as several other companies; this is one nice thing that progressive does. From my experience, I have found the company AAA to offer the best rates for myself and other people around my age group. Here is their page: https://www.logiforms.com/formdata/user_forms/4685_4056067/12098/ Perhaps you will find the same to be true in Arizona. Keep in mind that most companies offer discounted rates for new drivers, good students (GPA above 2.0 or 3.0 depending on company), and discounts as you get more experience. I hope I provided you with some tools to use on your quest. Good luck!

Q: How far back in your driving record do insurance agents look when determining your car insurance rate?

A: Hey Sugar, Honey Honey...The Archies say 3 years...If your violations are more than 3 hrs old, get with a co. that only looks back 3...and of course keep the driving clean.
