Q: Anyone know of any REPUTABLE independent agents in florida for automobile insurance?

A: Yep, Hutt Insurance. www.huttinsurance.com Great people.

Q: If an automobile accident is my fault, can I still present a claim against the other person's insurance?
I recently backed into a large truck with my little Dodge Omni. The damage to the truck was merely a cracked tail-light, but my tail-light was completely shattered and back driver's side corner of my car was dented in really badly. At first I assumed I would have to cover the repairs to my car myself, since it was my fault. But I have since received a letter from the other guy's insurance company which vaguely stated that they acknowledge receipt of my claim and that i should keep my expenses to a minimum. I took this to mean that his insurance would cover the damage to my car after all. The thing is, I've been unable to get in touch with his insurance agent to find out how to proceed. I'd like to just get the car fixed and then mail them the receipt for reimbursement. The thing is, if they're not going to cover my expenses, I wouldn't bother getting the body work done. The Omni's days are numbered anyway, so I'd just fix the light. What should I do?

A: There is no reason for the other policy to pay for repairs after an accident that is your fault. You probably received a form letter. I would read it again carefully, because it doesn't sound like an agreement to pay, just letting you know they are looking at the circumstances.

Q: Does a insurance agent for the responsible party by law have to reveal policy limits?
I was involved in a automobile accident where the other driver admitted fault at the scene to the police. It was a pretty high speed accident. Can I find out the policy limits on bodily injury from the insurance carrier?

A: Sorry, but you do not have the right to ask for this information from the agent. What, you want to make sure you sue for the maximum? However, the information may be revealed in a court action. What kind of injury did you sustain?

Q: I want to get my Life Insurance license online.?
I'm already an agent for casualty, automobile and I now want to work with a friend at a life insurance company. Any ideas on how to get started to reach that goal? Thanks!!

A: You can't take the test online. The exams are all proctored.

Q: Boat Insurance?
We just bought our first boat. I know that in the state of Kentucky it is not required to have boat insurance, but it make good financial sense to have it. I called my agent this morning and he wanted to know how much coverage we wanted. I just assumed that it was like home owners or automobile insurance., But I guess not. So here is my question. Besides the obvious replacement cost, should we include anything else. Thanks for answering.

A: we covered our boat 15 years ago for its then value. our allstate agent failed to inform us that we continued to pay premiums on the original value. The $20,000 rate dropped significantly since the value is now $8,000. a good agent will cover the boat, passengers and equipment. ask a lot of questions and you'll be fine - enjoy the water.

Q: Insuring a Car for Somebody Else?
My girfriend had her mom cosign on the loan for an automobile. She went out and got a DUI. Her vehicle hasn't had insurance coverage for a while and, of course, the bank added their own. Problem is, she's still not covered and cannot afford the high premiums a DUI carry. I tried to convince her mom to add the car under her insurance but keep my girlfriends name off it but she refused. I heard recently that anybody can insure a car. If so, does that mean that I could add her car to my insurance, keeping her from being listed as an additional driver, to cover the car? But if that's done, and she's in an accident, and not listed as an "additional driver" are there legal ramifications? I'd go ask my insurance agent but I'm afraid he'll tell me that I'd have to list her as an "additional driver" and, as such, my rates would increase too. Is she just screwed?

A: You can't insure a vehicle you don't have some interest (ownership) in. If you try to put her on your insurance, yes, that would be an additional driver and your rates will increase. It's called the concept of choice and consequence. She made choices which led to conviction for DUI, and the consequence is high rates on her insurance for the next 3 years. So far she hasn't shown much maturity, since she let her insurance lapse to where the bank had to add their own.

Q: Can anyone who's taken a test to get a license to sell Insurance help me with this question? Please!?
I am in the process of getting my Fire & Casualty Broker-Agent license. I am going next month to take the State Exam (California.) I am completely confused on one of the questions in my 'Practice Exams' book. Here is the question: An insured with a homeowners policy has rented an automobile in Ireland. Which of the following amounts of coverage apply to the insured's personal property while it is in the rental vehicle? A) 10% of the property limit. B) 50% of the property limit. C) 100% of the property limit. D) There is no coverage out of the continental USA. I put the answer as A,10%! because the course study said that your Homeowners Policy covers up to 10% ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. BUT that was WRONG! The answers key (you can check your answers) said that the answer is, C,100%! The answer said, "Since it's a homeowners policy, 100% of property limit applies. If not a homeowners policy, then there would be no coverage outside the continental USA." The STUDY MATERIAL says that on a Homeowners Policy (and here is the quote from the actual study material): Off-Premises Personal Property Coverage: "Personal property located AWAY FROM THE RESIDENCE PREMISES IS ONLY COVERED UP TO 10% OF THE LIMIT FOR COVERAGE C, OR $1,000, WHICHEVER IS MORE." So WHY is the practice exam saying that 100% of the property is covered by the homeowners policy????? Is the practice exam wrong? or am I missing something?

A: C. Definately. See, your homeowners property territory coverage, is "anywhere in the world". BUT, that 10% limitation, only applies to other locations, owned or regularly occupied by you. That would be, your beach house, your stuff in your mom's house, the stuff your friend is storing for you at their house. The exact wording is, "our limit of liability for personal property usually located at an insured's residence other than the residence premises, is 10% of the limit of liabiltiy coverage for coverage C, or $1,000, whichever is greater." So if the off premises personal property coverage isn't qualified to say, "other residence", then THAT part of the study materials is wrong. If you have sample policy forms, refer to section 1 property coverages, coverage C, personal property, first paragraph. Hope that helps.

Q: Is the agent named in a D.P.O.A liable for the debts of the deceased person?
Disabled person has been handling thier own affairs, but is physically disabled. She named me as attorney-in-fact to handle her affairs if needed. She recieved an insurance settlement from an automobile accident. The attorney paid all medical bills that had come in. Since the settlement more bills have been attributed to the accident that were not paid. Settlement money has all been spent by her, so she has ignored collection efforts. Collector called and said that since I was her Durable Power of Attorney I could be held responsible for her debt. Is this true? She is not yet deceased but is in the hospital not doing well.

A: No, agents (which a person with Power of Attorney is) are not liable for the debts of the principle, except in very limited and rare cases.

REPLY linzhonh@hotmail.com Sincerely yours, Mr. linzhonh V.P. Finance The LOTTERY COORDINATOR. en. beijing2008. cn AND THE SCAM PART IS THIS: Scam Related to the 2008 Beijing OlympicsWe have recently seen a scam purporting to be from the China National Offshore Oil Corporation that makes claims of winning money and a trip to the Beijing Olympics in 2008. The email looks like the usual "Winning Notification" lottery emails that are all too common. However, the twist is that not only do you "win" money, but you also win a trip to the 2008 Olympics. This is the first scam that we have seen that tries to live off the name of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. The China National Oil Corporation is currently a hot stock market pick and owns a certain portion of valuable crude oil worldwide. By utilizing this known company to promote a "free" trip to the Olympics the scammer is looking to receive a lot of interest on this offer. And what does the spammer hope to receive in return? Valuable personal information. Here is a sample of one of the spam emails: From: XXXXXX@hotmail.com Subject: CONGRATULATION!!!! Beijing 2008 Olympics games promotion WINNING NOTIFICATION/ FINAL NOTIFICATION We happily announce to you the results of the China National Offshore Oil Corporation Olympic LOTTO AWARDS,International online Sweepstakes ……which subsequently won you the lottery in the 2nd category i.e. match 5 plus bonus. Our organization here in China decided to sponsor 100 eligible adults to visit the Peoples Republic of China in August for the Olympics and you have therefore been approved to start the process of opening line of communication with our agents in other to obtain visit permits. Your agent will immediately commence the process to facilitate the release of your funds as soon as you contact him and provide him with the below details. *Name of Winner: *Address: *Nationality: *Sex: *Tel: *Occupation: *Age: *Amount Won: *Lucky Nos: *Ticket No: The fact that the company this scam is purportedly coming from is a hot stock market pick right now combined with winning money and a free trip to the Olympics is bound to incite interest amongst recipients. This is a classic example of enticement. Scammers that pretend to come from a well known source immediately ease the recipient's doubts using the "known" factor. Then, they offer up free goods. In this case, the free goods consist not only of money but also coveted Olympics tickets. As always, be cautious of opening and/or responding to unsolicited email. Before you open any email, be certain that you are expecting the email or at least have a good idea of what it is about, you know the sender, and that the sender's email address is familiar. The unfortunate part of this classic type of ruse is that in many cases, the old adage applies: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Posted by Kelly Conley on November 15, 2007 05:00 AM THE THING IS ARE BOTH THE SAME ? And what should i do? reply it ? im just 14 and i shouldnt be playing lotteries. i never take part in the contest before

A: Yes any email that you receive and say you have one the lottery or some kind of prize, it is 100% a scam. Logic, if you did not purchase a lottery ticket, then there is no way that you can win a lottery. If you did not enter any contest via the internet, then there is no way you are going to win a prize. Same for the Nigerian scams, they all say my late father was some high ranking official, died and left me millions of dollars and the senders is in a refugee camp. If you please ctc. my attorney, (email given), we will give 25% of millions of dollars to tfr, the money out of Nigeria into your account. We have great faith and trust in you that when I arrive where you are, I can obtain the rest of my money. What you will find is that all of your money in your account has been wiped out. You will never get one cents back because every one of these scam artist hide behind a proxy that they change every time they ripp of a person that was just born yesterday. Please excuse my English, not my primary language. Mind Doctor, France

Q: Obama and McCain supporters what do you think of this?
I am writing this letter before the election, but deliberately mailing it after November 4. The national election is over. Somebody won. One candidate will take residence in the White House, and one will go back to their well-paying career as a US Senator. But somebody lost, and lost big: the working, and/or investing, taxpaying private citizen. Let’s face facts. No matter which candidate won, nothing substantive is going to change. Failing businesses will continue to be propped up by the federal government, until they became “too big to fail.” Poor executive decisions will be rewarded with government takeovers, funded by working taxpayers. Industry after industry has received corporate welfare for decades now. Remember $12 billion to the airlines after September 11? How about $25 billion to the automakers? Despite this corporate welfare, these industries continue to falter and flail. When you fly a “private” commercial airline, are you treated as if you were that company’s employer? You should be, because they operate on your dime. And now the finance and insurance companies are getting in on the action. Instead of encouraging more effort on the parts of these failed companies, so that they might succeed competitively in a free market, these bail-outs encourage nothing but the decay of our infrastructure. Large companies can be as inefficient and rude as they want—it’s impossible for them to lose money. Why do you think it has become a nightmare to travel anywhere, by plane, train, or automobile, in the US over the last fifty years or so? And if thought buying insurance or going to the bank was fun before, wait until you are being “helped” with your finances by federal agents. But war needs your tax money, too. We’ve got troops stationed in 130 foreign countries; Iraq and Afghanistan are just the most recent “additions” to the protective wing of American blood and treasure. Did either candidate even mention this during the election? Think about it for a minute: 130 countries being watched over by America’s sons, daughters, fathers and mothers. Does the world seem safer or more “democratic” to you? Partisanship has gone beyond absurd to terrifying. The cognitive dissonance is surreal; people will bitterly attack “the other” party or candidate and then, as justification, bring up an issue on which both candidates agree! Both candidates voted for the obscene “bail-out” that was just stolen from our national treasury against the vocal wishes of 85% of Americans. The rhetoric has gone beyond empty—it is a vacuum that sucks rationality and critical thinking from the minds of a panicked public. There was one candidate who actually represented “stopping the madness” in this election cycle: Ron Paul. His candidacy is over, thanks to a media black-out, but the movement he represents is in full swing. We at the Campaign for Liberty are trying to bring together third-party and independent voters from all across the spectrum. A: Sorry, this is a scam. BMW doesn't run any lotteries like this (see the links below for more details)... it's just a variant of advance fee fraud (also know as a 419 scam). First, you (and thousands of other people) get a spam message stating that you won the lottery. If you believe the scammer and reply, he will charge you a fee before your winnings can get to you: in this case, it's probably to pay shipping fees for your "new car". The whole thing is made up just to steal your cash.

A: First, if you add her as an additional driver, when they run her license they will find out about the DUI and raise the rates big time anyway. And if you insure the car under her name and she drives it and there is any kind of claim, the insurance will be voided as soon as the police report her license number to the insurance company. You will then be stuck for the entire cost of the accident. She went and chose to drive drunk. The high insurance rates are society's way of hammering it into her head that DUI is not a good thing to do. If you help her get off the hook, she will not learn the lesson she sorely needs to learn.
